Over the past decade, I have contributed to European research and innovation projects spanning open science, research infrastructures, AI, scientific workflows, and community building. My work has evolved from technical and scientific contributions to programme development, funding acquisition, stakeholder engagement, and project leadership.

  • Role: Funding acquisition contributor and Work Package lead.
  • Contribution: Secured funding and will lead community engagement and outreach activities supporting the adoption of sustainable practices for computational workflows and digital research infrastructures.
  • About the project: ESG4Stars helps research infrastructures reduce the environmental footprint of scientific computing through community-driven approaches, best practices, and sustainability-focused services.
2026-2029 | 8M EUR
  • Role: Funding acquisition contributor.
  • Contribution: Secured funding for FLUID-AI, a project emerging from collaborations established through AI4Life and the broader European AI and research infrastructure ecosystem. Contributed to shaping an initiative focused on improving interoperability, reuse, and accessibility of AI-ready data and models across scientific domains.
  • About the project: FLUID-AI introduces the concept of Data and Models Liquidity, extending FAIR principles to support interoperable AI-ready data and models. The project develops services, platforms, and community support mechanisms that enable researchers to more easily discover, combine, and reuse data and AI/ML models across the EOSC.

  • Role: Funding acquisition and community consultation contributor.
  • Contribution: Secured funding and contribute to community consultation and strategic roadmap activities, helping represent life science research infrastructure needs in discussions on the future of AI in science.
  • About the project: SCIANCE brings together scientific communities, research infrastructures, and policy stakeholders to develop a Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA) for AI in science and help align future European investments with community needs.
2025-2027 | OSCARS (25M EUR) | OSCARS-FIESTA (250K EUR)
  • Role: Coordinator of the funded project FAIR Image Analysis Across Sciences (250K EUR).
  • Contribution: Secured funding and coordinate a cross-disciplinary project promoting reusable scientific workflows across bioimaging, astronomy, and environmental sciences.
  • About the project: OSCARS strengthens open science across European research infrastructures through competence centres and a cascading grant mechanism supporting innovative community projects.

  • Role: Community engagement contributor.
  • Contribution: Represent the bioimaging community and contribute to outreach and engagement activities supporting the adoption of AI infrastructure services.
  • About the project: RI-SCALE develops scalable AI-driven services and platforms to support research infrastructures and data-intensive science.

  • Role: Programme designer and Task Lead.
  • Contribution: Designed and launched the Euro-BioImaging Scientific Ambassadors Programme and manage the programme task force to support engagement of early-career researchers across the infrastructure.
  • About the project: EVOLVE strengthens Euro-BioImaging’s capacity to serve its growing scientific, industrial, and research infrastructure communities.
2022-2025 | 4M EUR
  • Role: Work Package Lead (Communication, Outreach & Training).
  • Contribution: Led communication, training, community engagement, open calls, and challenges; served on the Steering Committee and Project Management Executive Board; and reported project deliverables and budgets to the European Commission.
  • About the project: AI4Life supported the adoption of AI-based image analysis methods in life sciences through services, training, and community-driven activities..
2022-2025 | 4M EUR
  • Role: Grant writing coordinator.
  • Contribution: Coordinated the proposal writing process and developed outreach materials supporting project communication and community engagement.
  • About the project: EuroScienceGateway provided researchers with easy access to distributed computing, storage, tools, workflows, and services across Europe.
2020-2023 | 8M EUR
  • Role: Task Lead.
  • Contribution: Co-authored the COVID-related project extension and led task 9.4 on SARS-CoV-2 analysis activities.
  • About the project: ELIXIR-Converge improved coordination and standardisation of life science data management across Europe.
2019-2023 | 23.7M EUR
  • Role: Scientific Contributor and Task Lead.
  • Contribution: Developed an imaging data reuse demonstrator, coordinated collaborations between EOSC projects, contributed to community training initiatives, and led task 2.4 “Tools Collaboratory”.
  • About the project: EOSC-Life integrated life science research infrastructures into the European Open Science Cloud to improve data accessibility, interoperability, and reuse
2017-2019 | 10M EUR
  • Role: Scientific and technical contributor.
  • Contribution: Developed a Bioimaging Demonstrator to reuse publicly available imaging data and generate new biological insights, combining cloud technologies, data management, and analysis workflows.
  • About the project: EOSC pilot supported the first phase of the European Open Science Cloud, exploring services and infrastructure for open science.
2011-2015 | 12M EUR
  • Role: Research Assistant and PhD Researcher.
  • Contribution: Developed a cell cycle and migration database, and applied biomedical ontologies to integrate phenotypic and functional annotations.
  • About the project: Systems Microscopy was a European initiative focused on understanding cellular processes through advanced live-cell imaging and systems biology approaches.
